Dr. Gisele

Good health is a state of optimal physical, mental and emotional well-being that enables us to respond appropriately to all kinds of stressors ,while maintaining a state of internal equilibrium. It goes beyond the absence of acute or chronic illness. The source of the disease can be any challenge to the body which creates disharmony, be it environmental, physical, and /or emotional. Unfortunately, most people pay little attention to their state of health until it is compromised.

I recommend “wellness check-ups” just as we routinely perform dental check-ups. Dis-ease can only ensue when the body is out of balance as a result of weakened immunity, exhausted resources, or the obstruction of the free flow of life energy (QI) which animates every living cell. The balance, quality and quantity of ” QI” directly affects every bodily function.

The Holistic Approach – Treating the root as well as the manifestation of disease

Our approach to healing uses the the holistic model. Treatment involves alleviating symptoms, but more importantly treating the root of the disease. Our bodies, the most intelligent creation known , has its unique way of informing us of internal disharmony (dis-ease) minor aches, pain and discomfort. In the West we have learnt to camouflage these warning signs with OTC (over the counter medications). PMS, Indigestion, IBS, Constipation, Allergies, Insomnia, Headaches, Low Back pain, recurrent bouts of the Common Cold and Influenza are all examples of minor illnesses, the symptoms of which we routinely suppress with OTC medications. And the list of diseases goes on and on. This approach not only fails to correct the underlying imbalance, but can create further disharmony as most, if not all of these drugs do have side effects.

However, there are eight Extraordinary Vessels that flow more deeply in the body, and are perhaps even more powerful that the 12 primary channels. The Extraordinary Vessels regulate the 12 channels, and are deep lakes of energy, which can feed the

Extraordinary Vessels – Dai Mai

In addition to the 12 main acupuncture meridians that flow along the surface of the body, there are also deeper channels of energy in the body called the Extraordinary Vessels. You can understand the relationship between the primary acupuncture channels and the Extraordinary Vessels by thinking about what happens when it rains: first, small ditches become full – these

An easy way to think about this is with fruits and vegetables: we are lucky these
